General

Are any of your products vegan?

Yes! Our Just Sea Salt Microwave Popcorn, Vermont Maple Kettle Microwave Popcorn, Pop at Home Kernels, Classic Sea Salt Twists, Classic Sea Salt Sticks, Peanut Butter filled Nuggets, Plant Based Cheezy Style Nuggets, Maple Almond Butter Nuggets and Dark Chocolate Peanut filled Nuggets are all vegan.

Are the sugars that are used in Quinn products considered vegan?

Quinn uses two different sugar sources in our products, cane sugar and honey. Our organic cane sugar is made by the natural evaporation of cane juice. This process is far less complex than that of traditional white sugar and also keeps the final organic cane sugar a vegan friendly sweetener! While most vegan groups do not consider honey to be vegan friendly, honey is only used in Quinn’s Touch of Honey pretzel sticks. The honey used is an organic, non-GMO ingredient. It is produced by bees from the nectar of blossoms. Sugars play a key role when it comes to the pretzel baking process. Sugars react with protein and heat and give way to the beautiful brown that all pretzel fanatics know and love!

Pretzels

Are there any allergens of concern for potential cross contamination in Quinn pretzels?

First and foremost, Quinn pretzels and filled nuggets are certified Gluten Free by the Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO) which is a certifying body of the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) of North America. To be GFCO certified every facility that Quinn product is made in goes through intensive audits that ensure no Quinn pretzel ever has traces of gluten. Those “intensive” audits require that:

  • Quinn tests all of our pretzels for gluten with an independent third-party lab. Quinn’s standard is that all products test at less than 5 ppm for gluten, which is actually twice as strict as the GFCO standard associated with the Certified Gluten Free logo! The FDA requires food products to contain less than 20 ppm to claim “Gluten Free” on a label. The NFCA (National Foundation for Celiac Awareness) requires 10 ppm to consider a product “Gluten Free”.
  • Each manufacturing facility has incredibly stringent food safety practices in place. These practices include thorough cleaning and regular testing of equipment. The entire production line, from mixing to packaging, is extensively cleaned and sanitized. This process takes a full team of workers 36 hours to complete. Gluten Free status is then validated by swabbing contact areas on the line and testing them for gluten/gliadin proteins. If anything fails, it is cleaned again and re-tested.

I’m not happy with the flavor, color, or taste of my pretzels. What can I do?

We’re sorry you’re not enjoying our delicious pretzels as much as we are. The science behind pretzel baking is a complex one and unfortunately that means that even the smallest change in processing or baking time can change the physical appearance of the product, resulting in some variations with the shape and color of the pretzels! We want you to know that we at Quinn take the quality of our products very seriously and want to ensure that our customers are receiving only the highest quality products! If you are unhappy with your recent bag of pretzels for any reason, please email us on the CONNECT page of our website with and if possible, include Best By and Batch information located in the top corner of the bag so we can make things right.

Where does the vitamin E in your pretzels come from?

The Vitamin E in our pretzels is extracted from sunflower seeds. Vitamin E naturally protects the oil within our pretzels so that they do not oxidize and become rancid during the shelf life! The Vitamin E we use is Tocobiol and there is roughly 0.06 grams in each serving of pretzels. Please visit our Farm-to-Bag page for more information!

Where is your xanthan gum in your pretzels derived from?

Our xanthan gum is made through the fermentation of non-GMO soy flour and sugar. In fermentation the soy is completely eaten up, leaving us with a gluten free, soy free binder that helps make our pretzel dough workable. Please visit our Farm To Bag for more information.

Why did you make the switch from Palm Oil to High Oleic Sunflower Oil in your pretzels?

The Quinn team is constantly searching for ingredients that are better for you and better for the world! This was the reasoning behind the switch from Palm Oil to High Oleic Sunflower Oil. Not only does High Oleic Sunflower Oil help keep our pretzels fresh, it also has a much lower level of saturated fat than Palm Oil. This change has helped with the quality of our pretzels and it was ultimately the healthier decision for our customers, double win!

Why does the serving size or number of Pretzels vary in each bag?

The number of pretzels in each bag varies slightly because we sell our pretzel products by weight! We ensure that each bag always weighs 7 ounces, but unfortunately the number of pieces may vary slightly from bag-to-bag, as the weight and density of the individual pretzel pieces varies from batch to batch. Rest assured, we are able to confirm that 7 ounces of pretzels are, in fact, included in each bag! If you are unhappy with the serving size in your recent bag of pretzels for any reason, please email us on the contact page of our website with more information so that we can make things right!

Why do you use sunflower oil and not avocado or coconut oil?

We chose to use high oleic sunflower oil in our pretzels and popcorn because we love its rich buttery flavor. We source our oil from Colorado Mills, who presses their oil just a few hours from our office. Working with a local company like Colorado Mills helps us have more transparency and a lower carbon footprint than we would sourcing avocado or coconut oil from other countries. The American Heart Association also recommends high oleic sunflower oil as part of a heart healthy diet because of the high amount of monounsaturated fat in place of linoleic acid, otherwise known as polyunsaturated fats which are known to cause inflammation and become unstable when heated. You can learn more about our Organic High Oleic Sunflower Oil on our Farm To Bag page or at the Colorado Mills website.

Microwave Popcorn

My microwave popcorn didn’t pop very much. What do I do?

Quinn Microwave Popcorn is different, in the best way, from all other microwave popcorn brands on the market. Our patented Pure Pop  bag® is the only microwave popcorn that does not use a susceptor! Susceptors are commonly a sheet of metal inside microwave popcorn bags that have the ability to absorb electromagnetic energy and convert it to heat. Quinn removed the susceptor from our bag because we just don't feel good about a hot sheet of metal next to our food. We have made sure that our kernels pop the way that nature meant for them to be popped, using only heat as the source!  Without the metal susceptor, kernel popping can be a bit touchy and relies on your microwave. Every microwave is different and that is why it is SO important that you figure out the perfect amount of time required for Quinn popcorn in your microwave.
Most importantly, while popping your popcorn: Stay, watch, and listen and do it in ALL one go! Don't start and stop, popcorn needs the momentum to successfully pop! Listen to those popcorn kernels. When there are 2-3 seconds per pop, it’s done! Check out this page for our full list of microwave popcorn tips and tricks.

My microwave popcorn was missing the seasoning and/or oil pouches or I didn’t like the flavor. What do I do?

We are so sorry to hear about your recent experience with our microwave popcorn! Let’s see if we can figure out what happened with this…. We do things a little differently here at Quinn when it comes to microwave popcorn. The bag that you pop ONLY contains organic popcorn and sea salt; there are no artificial ingredients/fake butter included in the bag like many other brands. After the bag is popped, each box comes with oil and seasoning pouches that should be applied to the popped corn; the 1st pouch contains oil and should be drizzled on top, while the 2nd pouch contains the delicious seasoning flavor that you purchased. All of our popcorn flavors, aside from The Just Sea Salt microwave popcorn, come with two oil pouches and two seasoning packets! However, these boxes are packed by hand and while very rare, incorrect or missing packets happen occasionally. If you suspect that your popcorn may be missing seasoning or oil pouches, or you are otherwise unhappy with the flavor of your popcorn, please fill out the information on the CONNECT page, and we will send a free box coupon ASAP to make up for this!

How is the Palm-Oil in your popcorn sourced?

The palm oil that we use in our popcorn products is ethically sourced from Natural Habitats. Natural Habitats is a small group of farmers in Ecuador who are committed to sustainable, organic, and fair trade agriculture. They follow a "palm done right promise," that ensures that their palm oil is 100% organic, deforestation free, wildlife friendly, fair and socially responsible. You can learn more about our palm oil on our Farm To Bag page or at the Palm Done Right Website.

Kernels

Are there any allergens of concern for potential cross contamination in Quinn-Pop at-Home Popcorn Kernels?

Good news! There are no allergens of concern associated with Quinn Pop-at-Home Popcorn Kernels.

Packaging

Why do you use a plastic wrapper around the microwave popcorn bag?

The plastic wrapper is 100% necessary in order to ensure that the popcorn actually pops in the microwave. Popcorn needs a precise water content in order to pop, between 12.5 and 14% water, and the plastic serves as a barrier to “lock” that water into place. Without the plastic the corn would get too wet or too dry in a very short amount of time, and consumers would get a bag full of duds. We're always looking for more  sustainable ways to package this and if we do find an alternative that works, this will certainly be something that we pursue!

Are your boxes / bags recyclable?

Yes! Our popcorn boxes are recyclable and the microwave Pure Pop Bags are compostable. Even traditionally non-recyclable items (I’m looking at you cellophane) including the ingredient pouches and pretzel bags can be recycled! Through our partnership with TerraCycle! Just visit their website to request your bag!

Collaborations / Social Media Inquiries

How do I get in touch for social media collaborations or brand ambassador opportunities?

Currently, we do not have a brand ambassador program in place as we are a small company. As a result, we aren’t taking on any new sponsorship opportunities at the moment, but we hope to be able to do so in the future as we grow! To keep in touch and stay up to date on potential social media collaboration opportunities, fill out this form and a member of our marketing team will be sure to reach out if they think it may be a good fit!

Would Quinn Snacks be interested in donating to our cause or upcoming event?

While we would love to help with every donation request we receive, as a small company, we’re still limited in what we can do. We stick to a small number of causes and events each month that align strongly with our mission to provide real, nutritious food to kids and families, support US farmers and producers, and empower people to know where their food came from. As we grow, we hope to be able to support more awesome community resources and causes like yours. Please keep us in mind for the future!

Do you sell just the seasoning separate from the kernels?
